THANK YOU FOR SPARKING A LOVE OF LEARNING

We want to thank the Dunham Fund for the recent grant awarded to SPARK to support the continued development and integration of the Play.Learn.Connect. Family Resource Center at VNA Healthcare on Highland Avenue in Aurora.
In September 2017, Robert R. McCormick Foundation approved a two-year grant that provided SPARK the opportunity to begin planning the conversion of VNA’s existing family waiting room to a Family Resource Center.
The Play.Learn.Connect. Family Resource Center seeks to improve the use of parents’ time in waiting areas of the VNA subsidized medical clinic through a redesign of space and functions. The project will transform the waiting room into a place where parents can connect with support from staff/highly skilled volunteers to engage in modeling of impactful parenting behaviors and learn about additional resources that may be available to support them and their child.
Through our SPARK Universal Family Interview (formerly called Shared Intake), SPARK can assist to identify and connect families to early childhood programs and education.

FAMILY FUN
Summer is here! This is the perfect time to play with your children outdoors. Go for a walk and make a scavenger hunt out of it! Everyday moments are learning opportunities for your children. Talk about what you are doing. For example, if you are making dinner talk to your child and tell them all about it. What are the ingredients, what do they taste like, how do they feel. Always remember talking is teaching!
